An ethereal otherworldly collaboration with Martina Hoogland-Ivanow.
Cecilie Bahnsen unveils the Fall/Winter campaign shot by Martina Hoogland-Ivanow, the Swedish artist and photographer. Their collaboration captures the bewitching mood of the collection in a series of cinematic images, dreamy with “a kind of Nordic rawness”, as Cecilie puts it.
The campaign brings Fall/Winter 2020 full circle. When Cecilie designed the collection last year she had copies of Martina’s landscapes pinned up on her moodboard. At the runway show at Copenhagen Fashion Week in January, she projected Martina’s photograph of frozen tundra taken in northern-most Russia on to the wall. It matched the sense she had this season of sending her woman out into the wilderness, says Cecilie.
“I am in love with Martina’s images for the campaign; they are so emotional and eerie. When I was designing the collection I was thinking of a faraway place, mysterious and dreamy yet earthy and exposed to the elements. Martina has captured that so beautifully.”

Working in the studio, Martina arranged the models, mostly in groups, in front of landscapes from her archive. Then came the intricate process of projecting that same image on to the models.
“In this collaboration with Cecilie, I took the opportunity to experiment with projection mapping as a form of lighting technique. The intention was to use the unifying element of Cecilie’s design and find a visual method to camouflage the space in between the figurative groups placed in the landscapes or various textures from natural elements as well as merging the background and foreground into the same level of representation”
