SILK - Material and Care Guide

HOW TO TAKE CARE:
Silk fabrics should not be washed. When needed, please send your garment in for a gentle dry clean.

HOW TO STORE:
We recommend hanging your silk garments on a sturdy hanger in a closet, but they can also be folded and stored on a shelf or in a drawer.

ORGANZA

Organza is a plain weave fabric woven with twisted yarns in 100% silk. Higher density makes the fabric softer and smoother, though it remains slightly stiff to the touch. The yarn combination gives a sheer and shiny quality. It offers a delicate and ethereal appearance that adds an air of elegance to any garment or accessory.

SILK SATIN

Satin is a variation of a twill weave. Weft yarns float over warp yarns, to produce a smooth and shiny surface. The result is a luxurious, glossy fabric that appears silky on the front and dull on the back.

TUNDRA ORGANZA
Silk Organza has been a staple for Cecilie Bahnsen from the start, appreciated for its organic quality, soft drapery, and transparency. The 100% silk yarn woven through gives it a distinctive sheer lightness.

PLEATED ORGANZA
A sheer and delicate polyester organza, pleated in an irregular way. Like many of Cecilie Bahnsen’s fabrics, this organza is the result of fabric development and embellishment inspired by organic, nature-inspired motifs. The pleating is creating through heat treatment, which breaks the fibre in a specific motif. To ensure durability, this technique has to be applied to a synthetic fibre, as a silk weave would return to its original flat shape.
